Riding Bareback by MorkelErasmus Riding Bareback by MorkelErasmus
A pivotal moment in the struggle for life and death on the plains of the Mara Triangle in the Maasai Mara (Kenya). The Thomson's Gazelle lost this round against the Cheetah.
I am heading back there this weekend to lead a photographic safari during the Great Migration. Join us next year on safari!!

So sad yet so awesome at the same time. I am always sad for the gazelle yet thrilled for the cheetah who would have expoended an extraordinary amount of energy for no reward if the gazelle escaped which could mean the difference between life and death for the cheetah. The circle of life at its finest. Fantastic shot.

I am sure that you would react the same if in this picture the Cheetah would eat you instead of the Gazelle :D (Big Grin)

Oh hell ya I would just bust out my wide angle lens and snap away until the cheetah was full.  Pretty sure that would be worth a DD or two!

Some royals in Saudi Arabia etc have cheetahs as pets - they are smuggled out of Africa as cubs and then hand-reared.
Quite sad :(
